Atlanta Residence

Atlanta, Georgia
while with Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects

A contemporary take on a classic historical vernacular. Located in the historical neighborhood of Atlanta called Ansley Park, the house draws its formal aspirations from traditional southern architecture, while using the contemporary language of steel, concrete, and glass.

One of the major themes of the house is the gardens, which are symbolically brought through the center of the house. The large glass windows in the front and rear of the house make the gardens feel like they extend through the house, bounded by the red stone boxes on either side.

Sustainable design has been utilized with the geothermal heating system, the vertical natural ventilation of the central space with operable clerestory windows, and radiant floor system.
